At Active Iron, we made iron better for real people, but don’t just take our word for it. Jo, mum of three, has kindly let us share her story so we can learn more about how important it is to find the best iron supplement for you.

Sometimes you just need a little bit extra – right?

As Jo explains, she does try to get enough iron in her diet but supplementing allows her to get that bit extra to ensure her energy levels are maintained.

“For me, one of the additional problems I have is that I have polycystic ovaries. The way that it affects me is that I get very irregular periods and when they do come, they’re incredibly heavy. And even though I have a good balanced diet and ensure I have iron-rich foods in there, I eat loads of spinach and quinoa and when I want to I have red meat, I needed a little bit extra.”

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition that affects how a woman’s ovaries work. According to the NHS the three main features of PCOS are irregular periods, excess androgen and polycystic ovaries. Irregular periods led to Jo feeling exhausted, so she decided to supplement her iron intake.

“That’s why I’ve included iron supplements [in my diet] that I take every day.”

We made iron better for real people like Jo, who may have struggled with taking other iron supplements in the past. Active Iron is specially formulated by scientists to help reduce gut irritation from iron*. It’s also clinically proven to increase iron levels by 94%, while still being gentle on the stomach**.

“I would recommend Active Iron supplements; they’ve given me extra energy.”
